Imagine a lush forest where biodiversity reigns supreme, the ideal setting for young people to stay and immerse themselves in the countryside while learning about rural traditions. This is the La Via Antiga Agriturismo in Torre di Mosto, run by Ciro Zanin and created in 1996 from the family’s century-old rustic farmhouse in Palù di Stafolo, an unmissable oasis of peace and tranquillity. Ciro took a fresh, almost revolutionary approach for his farm and in 1997 abandoned the conventional cultivation of cereals to focus on two objectives: to make the farm welcoming for guests with ponds, hedges and groves, and to improve agricultural production methods by switching to organic farming. The farm grows vegetables, fruit, aromatic, medicinal and perennial herbs and breeds farmyard and domestic animals including Haflinger horses, donkeys, buffaloes, sheep and goats. There are also wild boar, mouflon and fallow deer. Since 2002 it has been running courses in rural life and traditions. It attained organic certification for the land 25 years ago so the animals feed on fresh grass and wheat straw. Since 2020 the Agriturismo has only been open for accommodation.
