The Papaveri e Papere agriturismo in Caltana di Santa Maria di Sala, in the Roman Graticolato (an area divided in Roman times into 710mq squares) lies between the provinces of Venice and Padua and is a welcoming, relaxing place with something for everyone. This ICEA certified Agriturismo was first opened in 1997 by sisters Anna and Cinzia Carraro who dreamed of changing their lives and moving to the countryside. Their father loved farming and passed this passion on to his daughters, helping them to find suitable land. They settled in Caltana where they have 16 hectares of wheat and poppies, which give the farm its name. The main crops are cereals and vegetables while pigs and other farmyard animals are also bred. The Agriturismo has been running since 2001 offering accommodation (five rooms) and dining with a refined cuisine based on the Venetian tradition. The School Farm is well known and has gained a reputation with local schools for cooking courses including From Wheat to Bread, and for outdoor activities with donkeys, goats and horses, which are very popular particularly in summer.
Agriturismo surrounded by greenery with large open spaces and farm animals in large enclosures that guests may visit. We have riding stables, an educational farm, and run summer camps. We offer typical Veneto cuisine with seasonal products and organise weddings and other events. Bed & Breakfast and direct sales of meat and sausage products from organic farming on the Agriturismo are also available.
