Via Antiche Mura, 46 – 30016 Jesolo (VE)

Agriturismo Antiche Mura lies just a stone’s throw from the old town centre of Jesolo and a few kilometres from the sea, in a quite unique setting surrounded by the remains of the ancient walls of a Roman cathedral. This is the Cathedral of Santa Maria which was, according to historians, the second largest in the area after St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice. Today all that remains are the rectangular foundations of the bell tower, a remarkable mosaic floor with floral motifs, the corner of one wall and a few remnants of the crypt. The Agriturismo is owned by Giorgio Dainese who, despite having no history in agriculture, used to spend his breaks from the hotel season in Jesolo working on local farms. In 1994 Giorgio decided to combine his experience in tourism with his passion for farming and animal raising by opening the Agriturismo, where, rather unusually, he has focused on rearing ostriches and now has around 200 of them. Antiche Mura offers modern rooms equipped with hydromassage shower cabins, and a restaurant open by reservation only. Free bicycle hire is also available.
